During Bruce Lee era do the westerner afraid of the Chinese when they show them some Kung Fu move?

More likely amazed, but not afraid.

Westeners already had skills in boxing, wrestling, and other combat forms, kung fu has flashy moves but alot of them are ineffective in a fight, that's why they have an evolved version (sanda), that arguably rivals arts such as muay thai.

Bruce Lee's last movie (enter the dragon), probably opened the eyes of many westeners, as he shows impressive skills that looked very real.|||I don't think they were afraid I think they were more in awe when Bruce Lee did anything, Bruce Lee was very intelligent and way to advanced for his time. I read the Dao of jeet kune do several times and I learned so much it's not funny, Anyone who reads it will learn something from white belt to tenth degree black.|||No I do not really think so. It was still a time of mass ignorance for most the USA when it came to Martial Arts.

Watch the older movies of the era and you will see how easy they think they can chop you in the back and KO you. It is funny.

Bruce brought some reality to TV and the movies with Martial Arts. I do not think the Masses feared the Chinese or their Kung Fu I think they did not Understand it for some time to come and then once they realized how descent it was, Westerners began to adapt more and more Asian Arts into their lives.|||What is the first thing you think about when you see a oriental person walking down the street you think they know Kung Fu or some type of martial art. I think It's more about respect than fear. But also the unknown because they might know some type of martial art. It's a huge stereo type that is given to the oriental race because of the show Kung Fu with David Carriedean or the movies Bruce Lee put out in the 70's or even Chuck Norris|||You have no idea the effect WW II propoganda had and how it worked in the late 30's thru the 40's . It was pre hippy =) Different world man, different world.|||Yes
