If Kung Fu masters decided to fight in the UFC, would they win?

My friend haven't watched any MMA or UFC fights yet and he thinks that Chinese Kung Fu masters (if they decided to join) will wipe the floor with their opponents. Obviously they'd only be in the lightweight division (Penn, Stevenson, Sherk, etc). If possible give factual reasons like techniques, speed factor, etc.|||Bruce Lee spent considerable time in street fights in Hong Kong before experiencing Western martial arts like boxing and wrestling, which are common skills among MMA fighters. His oppinion was that even a year of boxing and wrestling would be good enough to beat someone with far more experience in Chinese martial arts. You should take that with a grain of salt, as it's only one man's oppinion, but I suspect that a lack of extensive grappling training would put most Chinese martial arts practitioners at a disadvantage. I also think that the athletic training MMA fighters go through would give them a physical edge, and I wonder how much hard sparring these theoretical practitioners of Chinese martial arts do on a regular basis, which would effect their performance. So based on these factors, I'd give a high-level MMA fighter an edge when faced with just about anyone.|||A master of real kung fu will have overwhelming advantage. I've seen UFC and MMA bouts, and I have seen a real kung fu expert in action. A real kung fu master will have hands that, left unchecked, can peel the skin off anyone's face.

Unfortunately for the curious, real kung fu masters rarely show their moves to the public. The reason is simple. Early forms of "sporting competition" were actually venues where the less skilled learned by watching other people's moves.|||Kung Fu has been overrated due to all its holywood fame. If you actually take the time to watch in detail kung fu fights in the movies, you will see how fake it is. Such as, many times and opponent throws a punch, his arm will be fully extended however in stead of extending forward like a boxers jab, he throws his punch in a semi circle pattern, in which case it is very easy to block because you just need to raise your forearm and you will intercept his punch in the arc length.

A kung Fu master would probably not stand well in the UFC because they don't have take down defense or any ground game, maybe their speed and striking may prove useful, but the second it touches the ground they are probably screwed.|||Your friend is living in dreamland. Bruce Lee said 40yrs ago kung fu should keep up with time. how many chinese boxers are there? how many world class wrestlers are chinese? How many chinese fight k-1? Why would someone spend there whole life training and never fight?|||Yes cause Kung Fu in general is meant for self defense/killing, so if a MMA fighter thinks standing a watching and waiting for the Kung Fu practicioner to attack him then it won't be a fight..till the MMA FIGHTER ATTACKS HIM.|||Kung Fu masters back then...like ip man, bruce lee, etc...

actually, i dont even know if kung fu masters exist in this day and age|||no they would get rocked and dropped
